WPP strategic insight and planning consultancy The Futures Company has launched an office in Shanghai.

The launch comes less than a year after the launch of the company’s first office in Asia, in Singapore.

The Future Company Shanghai will be run by Kunal Sinha, who moves from Ogilvy China where he was chief knowledge officer and cultural insights director for APAC.

Sinha also takes on the role of APAC chairman for The Futures Company, and will work alongside the firm’s Singapore-based APAC MD Stephane Alpern.

Will Galgey, the global CEO of The Futures Company, said that the consultancy had already been working for Shanghai-based clients from its office in Singapore and elsewhere, and the new office would now be able to “better support those clients.”

Sinha said that the time was now right for The Futures Company to be opening in Shanghai.

“Growth has slowed, competition has intensified, there is greater scrutiny of corporations from people and the government alike, and power has shifted to the consumer. It is really hard for business leaders to find the answers to their greatest challenges, and we believe the combination of The Futures Company’s global resources and my team’s deep cultural, consumer and business expertise in China will help clients to unlock new sources of growth.”
