Yvonne Tey leaves SingTel to join HootSuite as APAC marketing director

Yvonne TeyYvonne Tey, the trade marketing director of SingTel’s global advertising division, has left the company to join social media firm HootSuite.

Tey brings to an end less than a year working for SingTel, the firm she joined in July 2013. She takes on a newly created role of marketing director at HootSuite, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She will report to HootSuite APAC managing director Ken Mandel, who recently appointed Ogilvy as the company’s PR agency. HootSuite is still relatively new to Asia, Mandel having helped set up the firm when he joined in October last year.

The company has US$165m in venture capital funding, clients including Australian Red Cross, Jetstar Airways and the City of Sydney, and plans to expand into Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Japan and Australia.

SingTel’s global advertising department has undergone a significant amount of change in recent months. The unit’s head Grant Watts left amid a restructure in December along with a number of other executives.

Before SingTel, Tey had a four-year stint at Reader’s Digest Asia, where she was commercial director. She has also had senior marketing roles at Viacom and Microsoft.
