Ravi Bhaya, the boss of Starcom Indonesia, is relocating to Singapore to take a regional role at Publicis Groupe after more than six and a half years as technical advisor.

Bhaya has been replaced by Yasir Riaz, who moves to Jakarta from Singapore, where he ran Unilever’s Southeast Asia and Australia business for Mindshare.

In Riaz’s career, he has worked at Mindshare Pakistan, then GroupM Indonesia to run clients such as Unilever, Danone, Sampoerna & Nokia. He also worked at GEO TV and Grey in Pakistan.

Jeffrey Seah, country chair for Vivaki Southeast Asia and chairman of the SMG Asia Digital Leadership Team, said: “Yasir has broad and deep skillsets in digital, trading, analytics, strategy and talent management which are important to a convention-defying growth market like Indonesia. Coupled with his market experience and determination to succeed, Yasir is truly liquid talent who has worked in Indonesia, Pakistan and most recently in Singapore. He is ready to take his career to the next stage and we are ready to develop him. This is a perfect union.”

Seah said of Bhaya: “Ravi has been nothing short of relentless, driven and a real go-getter. There is dexterity in what he does with a strong determined focus to the task. He espouses tenacity for any business lead and his competitive spirit is amazing.”

“The company has benefitted a lot from his commitment and attitude and I have personally enjoyed working with him. I would like to thank Ravi for his leadership in Indonesia,” he said.
