Neil Stewart moves into global role for Maxus as Ajit Varghese is appointed APAC CEO
Neil Stewart, the regional boss of GroupM media agency Maxus, is moving up to a global role as chief client officer.
The Australian, who has run APAC for Maxus for four years, will continue to be based in Singapore, both for family and strategic reasons.
Replacing him as regional CEO is Ajit Varghese, currently managing director of Maxus South Asia. Varghese will relocate from Mumbai to Singapore to start in the role in January 2014.
On why his role will be Singapore-based, Stewart told Mumbrella: “Global clients are still very interested in the BRIC markets and the next 11 high-growth economies. Asia is a very important market for growth, but equally there are a large number of Asian clients who want helping expanding across the world.”
Varghese will report to GroupM APAC boss Mark Patterson and Vikram Sakhuja, the Mumbai-based global CEO of Maxus CEO.
No surprise there. Was on the cards once Sakhuja – who used to report in to Stewart – became global CEO
ReplyFred – Vikram used to be the head of GroupM South Asia – so he actually reported to Mark Patterson last year.
