Weber Shandwick launches content arm Mediaco

PR agency Weber Shandwick has rolled out a new content creation unit in Asia.

Called Mediaco, the unit comes in response to clients who want to publish and distribute their own media, the agency says.

It will be led by Jon Wade, Weber Shandwick’s Asia Pacific head of digital, and will be staffed by planners, editors, user experience designers, writers, SEO experts, CGI artists, animators and producers.

A video explaining the thinking behind the new unit can be viewed here.

“While it’s clear content has become the hot topic across the marketing and media industry, what’s less understood is how specialized and complex operating a new media model can be, especially one that requires both scale and a sustained approach,” said Jason Wellcome, global head of Mediaco.

“What Mediaco offers is an end-to-end solution – one not based on theory, but one tested, refined and validated through the many client programs we’ve developed and executed,” he said.

The unit launched in North America and Europe earlier this year.
