Media agency group Aegis has announced a new CEO to run its North Asia operation.

Mindshare global managing partner Rob Hughes will replace David Holtham, who leaves the agency after an eight-year stint for “personal reasons”, according to Aegis.

Hughes will oversee Aegis Media-  which includes media agency brands Vizeum and Carat – in  Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. He will be based in Hong Kong.

Nick Waters, Aegis Media Asia Pacific boss, said in a press release: “Rob is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in media and digital across many Asian markets. He is a proven strong performer and will lead Aegis Media’s North Asian operations to even greater success. David has done a great job building a solid platform for our business in Japan and Korea, and we wish him well in his next endeavours. We are looking forward to Rob joining and taking the business on to new heights.”

Hughes has worked in Vietnam, Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong, most recently as global managing partner at Mindshare in Hong Kong running the agency’s US$400m LG Electronics business.
